If you have a vision of creating a world that works for all, and have struggled in realizing this vision – you are not alone. Join us for this rare opportunity to explore tools of nonviolence and Nonviolent Communication (NVC) in a way that lifts and respects the experience of Black, Indigenous, People of Colour.

This program is open to everyone – we welcome a mixed race group to explore different perspectives, dynamic tensions, and how the tools of NVC can help. This is nonviolence communication through an anti-racist and anti-oppressive lens. NVC for White-Identifying Antiracists

8 Wednesdays

April 27 - June 22, 2022 (No session May 18)

4:30 - 6:30 PM PDT

Online

$425 USD

The Center for Restorative Solutions and Necessary Trouble Collective are coming together to offer an introduction to Nonviolent Communication (NVC) through an antiracist, anti-oppression lens.

This course is for white-identifying antiracists*. Nonviolent Communication provides a set of skills and a practice that teaches us how to act and live in full alignment with our core values. It does this by giving us the tools to increase our self-awareness, work constructively with difficult emotions and find a way to care for ourselves and others even in times of conflict. Ultimately, we create more compassion, understanding, and authenticity in our lives and the lives of those around us; as we increase our capacity to attend to impact, while holding everyone’s humanity and needs.

Facilitators: Pam Orbach & Catherine Strickland

Outcomes:

  • Expand your frame of reference so that you can hold in your awareness how others might experience what is happening in ways that are not obvious to you.

  • Uncover your unconscious racial bias so you can respond to racially charged events with integrity and care

  • Care for yourself and still show up for BIPOC when harm happens

  • Be accountable for harm in ways that build trust and prioritize connection.

With questions about this workshop, please contact Pam Orbach Pam.Orbach@EmpoweringConnection.com | 425-444-4276 (US), or Catherine Strickland catherine@necessarytroublecollective.org | 778-686-1236 (Canada)

We are committed to removing barriers to joining this learning and community building opportunity. Please contact us directly if there are any obstacles (including financial) that would prevent you attending. We do need sustainability, and at the same time, It brings us joy to make this possible for everyone.

* This course is running in collaboration with POC4NVC Nonviolent Communication for Black, Indigenous, People of Colour Spring 2022.

Free from blame. Free from fear. Rich in learning. Learn how to give feedback that prioritises learning and is blame-free.

Learn a nonviolent approach to giving and receiving feedback that moves us from right/wrong thinking to engaging people in their full humanity in support of connection and learning.

During this four-session series, learn how to hold space for human needs, how to surface the “why” of behaviour or missed performance expectations, and when and how to surface connection for belonging and purpose.

We will work with your own examples, helping you prepare to give feedback or understanding previous feedback sessions that didn’t get the results you were hoping for.

Facilitators: Leonie Smith, Vickie Chang

In association with East Point Peace Academy.

This event is offered on a gift economy basis. No fee is requested, but donations to East Point Peace Academy in support of the facilitators are invited.
